Common Sense Implementation Retreat Over forty participants were present at the Common Sense implementation retreat., hosted by The Florida Supportive Housing Coalition (FLSHC). Those participants included a diverse group of representatives of state agencies, advocates, and consumers. This all day retreat developed an implementation plan of the five year strategic plan: “Common Sense: A Strategic Plan to Provide Supportive Housing Throughout Florida.” Each goal was thoroughly discussed and action steps were identified that will move goals forward. Several committees were formed and participants volunteered to serve on those committees. The Florida Supportive Housing Strategic Plan addresses goals for the next five years. If you would like to assist in moving this plan forward, please contact Lavonia Sampson at 850-878-7403 or email her at admin@flshc.net to received email notices. A copy of this plan can be downloaded from the website at www.flshc.net. FLSHC/FCH Joint Conference 2008 The Florida Supportive Housing Coalition and The Florida Coalition for the Homeless are proud to announce the 2nd Statewide Annual Joint Conference, “A Home for All: Bringing the Pieces Together”. With over 400 participants and presenters on national, state and local levels at the 2007 conference, the collaboration was clearly a success. Both organizations recognize the need for affordable housing for all special needs groups, therefore the conference will address housing needs for all special populations, those with extremely low income and the homeless. This event will take place in Orlando on October 6 - 8. Further information regarding the conference will be forthcoming.
